Estes has created a detailed 1:30th scale model of the first private manned spaceship to reach space. The SpaceShipOne model rocket faithfully reproduces the winner of the Ansari X-PRIZE.
SpaceShipOne, brain child of Burt Rutan of Scaled Composites, achieved the goal of reaching 100 km above the earth (space) from a ground take off and landing twice within a week to win the coveted Ansari X PRIZE award of $10 million dollars.
This Skill Level 2 kit has many features that make a fairly easy build, including laser-cut balsa wings and fins, detailed molded nose and tail cones, a die cut assembly jig, and a complete decal set for an authentic look. The kit includes a 12" parachute to return the rocket gently to earth.
